Bali Single Origin Coffee

Known as Bali Blue Moon, this single origin coffee is as unique and beautiful as it's 1,000 year old roots.

This Medium-Dark coffee is from the Mount Agung Kintamani highlands in rich volcanic soil of northeast Bali. You'll taste bittersweet chocolate, orange peel, juniper, and molasses in this coffee. We roast it to a medium dark roast level to draw out all the complex flavors.

The farms in this region are small family-owned operations that raise their coffee next to citrus trees in the rich volcanic soil. Each family does their own sorting, depulping and overnight fermenting in micro-mills. 

After washing, the cherries are laid out on patios for a short time before removing the parchment surrounding the bean. This is a different process unique to this varietal (Giling Basal) and gives the coffee it's special name, Blue Moon because the high water content gives the berries their distinct blue tint. The coffee is then dried enough to satisfy international shipping requirements before coming to our roastery.

Coffee in this area continues to be processed this way after over 1,000 years when it originated with Hindu priests. Their focus on harmony between the environment, humans, and God means that pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are never used.
